Welcome to my World

Hi there, I'm Sarah! (she/her) I am a compassionate straightforward human who loves hound dogs, science, nature, and all things creative! During the day, I work as a counselor and coach, and by night, I embrace my easygoing relaxed introverted nature. I'm excited that you found me in cyberspace. I know it can be hard to find someone that you trust online. I would like to invite you into my world and I hope to provide enough information for you to get to know me personally.

Personal Beliefs & Passions

My personal philosophy on life is existential at its core “Existence precedes Essence” with a focus on balance which emphasizes the individual's responsibility in creating meaning and finding equilibrium within the complexities of life. I believe in the concept of predestination, understanding that certain events and outcomes may be predetermined or influenced by factors beyond our control. However, I also firmly embrace the idea of free will, recognizing that we have the power to make choices and decisions that shape our lives. It is ultimately our actions that give meaning and value to our life. In life, we can learn a lot from each other and our personal experiences, if we choose to. I believe life is precious and a process, the question is what are we going to do that’s worthwhile before it's over?  My hope for humanity is that we see all of our situations as opportunities, no matter how devastating. We always have a choice about how we react and respond to life. That is the beauty of being human and the art of being alive.

Music is my medicine and I enjoy finding new artists and unique songs. My artistic endeavors include painting, writing, and photography. I enjoy cooking and exploring new places. I love playing games and pushing my mind with mental games. I am an avid puzzler and listen to a variety of podcasts.

I am deeply connected to humanity, animals, and nature. I am a dog mom to Luna, Apollo, and Buster, and a cat mom to Emerald and Jasper. They all have a distinctive connection to my soul and I believe they were sent to my life for a reason. I have always had a passion for animal welfare and advocacy. I fostered many animals in my life and still feel deep pain witnessing animals suffer. I still volunteer from time to time with animal rescues and I will be forever feeding the stray neighborhood cats.

I love to hike, swim, softball, and do anything outdoors. From basking in the sunlight to laying under the moon, I believe we are all one with nature and its beauty. I believe nature will connect with us if we give it the time and space to do so. I consider myself to be environmentally conscious and take steps in my daily life to minimize my impact on the natural world and to promote sustainability. My motto is to reuse, re-invent, and re-purpose before I purchase new items.

As a Pisces sun, the physics of this world is often intolerable. I have an inclination to detest the mundane realities and am prone to escapism and daydreaming, this is a part of my own shadow. My soul tends to desire a deeper meaning and attempts to understand the spiritual mysteries outside of this place we call Earth. I enjoy learning about the universe, astrology, tarot, and any spiritual techniques or practices. I have had many personal experiences with readings including palm, tarot, energy work, past life regressions, Akashic records, and natal chart. I pride myself on being open spiritually and believe there is no right or wrong in spirituality, the key is acceptance of what your soul is called to and having respect for what others are called to. We all have to ability to learn and grow which can impact our belief systems at any time during our lives.

My beliefs, passions, and who I am are motivated by much more than I could ever write on this page. Please feel free to be curious about me and to ask questions. I'm open to most things and will respectfully decline to answer if I am not comfortable giving a response.

Career Background & Experience

I began my career in crisis intervention in 2009, when I started working in an emergency room as an admissions coordinator. This role fueled my passion to help those in crisis and in disasters, also known as traumatic situations. I became a volunteer for the American Red Cross and a member of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. My passion for understanding the connection between mental and physical health continued to grow as I moved into clinical roles in hospital and outpatient settings.

In 2011, I worked as a behavioral health case manager (bachelor's level provider) in an outpatient clinic, assisting children with social skills development and providing community resources to families in need. In 2013, I worked as a mental health technician in an inpatient geriatric unit where I learned about and gained experience with end-of-life disorders such as dementia and Alzheimer's. In 2015, I worked as a Psychological Technician, assisting psychologists with conducting psychological evaluations for ADHD, learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral problems, academic, personality, and overall cognitive functioning. In 2016, I began my supervision as a candidate for licensure and worked as a community mental health counselor in outpatient and hospital settings. In 2018, I continued work as a licensed mental health clinician in the hospital, where I was responsible for providing suicide/homicide risk evaluations for over ten metro and rural emergency rooms. This also involved determining criteria for acute inpatient psychiatric treatment, follow-up, and coordination of placement with other mental health inpatient facilities.

In 2020, the pandemic pushed me to finally realize a long-time goal of mine, to open a solo private practice. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor and owner of Twelfth House Wellness, LLC in Oklahoma City. Today, I provide counseling and coaching services to adults through individual therapy, group work, and workshops.
